PJM's latest auction came up 6.8 GW short

PJM's capacity auction for June 2028-May 2029 fell about 6.8 GW short of its reliability standard as data center demand grows.

PJM's capacity auction for June 2028-May 2029 fell about 6.8 GW short of its reliability standard, which is enough to power at least 2.3 million homes and businesses.

PJM expects demand to grow 32 GW from 2024 to 2030, and 30 GW of that is data centers. A price cap and floor stay in place through May 2030.
