Fervo says its Utah Cape Station geothermal plant is now operating commercially

Fervo Energy said Oct. 1, 2026 that the first 33 MW GeoBlock at Cape Station in Utah reached commercial operation on Sept. 30; two more Phase I units are targeted for Jan. 1, 2027.

Fervo Energy said on October 1, 2026 that its first power plant at Cape Station in Beaver County, Utah, reached commercial operation. The company calls it the first greenfield enhanced geothermal development in the world to reach contractual commercial operations. The figures below are Fervo's own, from its press release; they are company claims, not independently audited.

Fervo says Cape Station synchronized to the grid on September 24 and declared commercial operation on September 30, one day before its contractual commercial operation date. Revenue is flowing under its power purchase agreements. The first GeoBlock produced 33 MW of net power, which Fervo says meets the production threshold in the agreement. The company says the first GeoBlock took 23 months to build and commission.

Phase I is about 100 MW across three 33-MW GeoBlocks. Commissioning continues on the other two, which Fervo expects to reach commercial operation by January 1, 2027. A further 400 MW, Phase II, is under construction with commercial operation expected in 2028. Those dates are targets, not results.
