Everyday Electric, formerly Renew Home, announced on October 6, 2026 that it acquired connected-vehicle platform Smartcar. The company says the deal extends its household energy services beyond thermostats and HVAC to electric vehicles.
Smartcar lets drivers connect vehicles with energy and mobility companies without additional hardware. Everyday Electric says the platform and team will join the business, bringing vehicle connectivity and automotive integrations in-house for managed charging and utility programs. It says services for existing Smartcar customers will continue without interruption.
A separate October 6 announcement introduced the Everyday Electric name and its whole-home Everyday VPP offering. The company describes coordinating HVAC, EV charging, solar and storage through partnerships with equipment makers and energy providers.
Everyday Electric reports coordinating more than 6 GW of capacity across connected products. That is a company-reported flexible-capacity figure, not proof that a newly built 17 GW power plant has begun operating. The verified announcements do not disclose a purchase price for Smartcar.
The company aims to help households save over $5 billion over five years. That is a corporate goal, not an independently verified outcome or a promised saving for a particular household. Eligibility, rewards and actual savings depend on the utility program and connected devices.
For energy providers, the new offering includes local dispatch, forecasting, load shaping and measurement using advanced metering infrastructure, according to the company. Readers should separate these vendor-described capabilities from measured results in their own service territory. The confirmed event is the acquisition and expansion of the company's whole-home program approach.
