Australian battery storage developer Akaysha Energy has closed an A$1.75 billion refinancing package covering four of its battery energy storage assets in New South Wales and Victoria, the company announced.
The refinancing was supported by an 11-bank club: ANZ, BNP Paribas, Bank of China, Deutsche Bank, ING, Intesa Sanpaolo, National Australia Bank, Scotiabank, SMBC, Societe Generale and Westpac. The facility offers tenors of five, seven and ten years.
The platform covers the Brendale, Orana and Ulinda Park battery projects in New South Wales and the Elaine battery in Victoria, consolidating debt behind Akaysha's operating and under-construction fleet into a single structure.
The Elaine battery has been under construction since October 2025 and is expected to reach completion in the second half of 2027, according to the company.
Akaysha's portfolio also includes the Waratah Super Battery in New South Wales, which the company said recently reached final commercial operations. Waratah is designed to act as a transmission stability asset for the state's grid.
Akaysha said its development pipeline now totals around 6 gigawatts and 25 gigawatt-hours of battery storage across Australia. The deal adds to a run of large portfolio-level debt packages for standalone battery storage in the Australian market.
